Teško je da neko od iskrenih ljubitelja ‘bijelog sporta’ ne voli Huana Martina Del Potra. Riječ je o Argentincu koji je uvjek ostavljao srce na terenu. Snažni udarci, nezaustavljiv servis i veliko srce, najbolje opisuju nekadašnjeg šampiona US opena.
Povrede su ‘odlučile’ da zaustave Del Potra, kada je to rivalima bilo najteže. Gotovo redovne pauze, koje su trajale i po nekoliko godina, popularnog Delpa su neprestano odvajale od najveće ljubavi u životu – tenisa.
Nije Argentinac prestao da se bori! Naprotiv, uvek se vraćao na teren sa osmjehom na licu.
Baš tako je bilo i ovog puta, ali osmjeh su nakon meča zamjenile suze. Nakon dvije i po godine pauze, nove operacije kolena, Del Potro je u Buenos Ajresu ponovo odigrao profesionalni meč.
Huan je izašao na megdan sunarodniku i velikom prijatelju, Federiku Delbonisu. Svima je bilo jasno da će Delpo teško doći do željenog rezultata nakon svih poteškoća sa kojima se bori. Delbonis je nakon 83 minuta igre slavio sa 2:0 u setovima (6:1, 6:3).
Rezultat je potpuno bio u drugom planu. Na tribinama je viđena fudbalska atmosfera, a Argentinci su neprestano bodrili svog heroja. ‘Ole, ole, ole Delpo, Delpo‘, orilo se na tribinama u Buenos Ajresu.
Huan je nakon meča traku za glavu okačio na mrežu, kao znak da je kraj… U trenutku kada je servirao za opstanak u meču, nije mogao da kontroliše emocije. Zaplakao je argentinski teniser, a navijači su ponovo bili uz njega.
“Teško je objasniti kako sam se osjećao na terenu. Atmosfera je bila luda, ljudi su bili ludi, bio je to jedan od najboljih mečeva u karijeri kad je riječ o publici”, rekao je Del Potro, a potom nastavio:
“Ne znam šta će se događati, osjećam veliki bol u koljenu. Ipak, trudiću se da to saniram – ako uspijem, možda budem imao još jednu šansu da igram. Moram da se pobrinem za koljeno radi svog svakodnevnog života. Ako mi je večeras bio posljednji meč, odlazim srećan”, poručio je Huan!
